Quite .. curious.
A man with no sight seems to have.. plenty of insight. And he can paint it.
How could he possibly do it? Born blind?
I must say I don't understand it, but here is an approx.
10 min long video on youtube made by Discovery channel, trying to explain just a little.
Oh also, obviously some scientists are trying to understand what's going on.
Ok, I think one must see the video. Yes.

Cute. Yep. "Will the bear please rise?" :)
"SKOPJE, Macedonia: A court in Bitola, a city in western Macedonia, has found a bear guilty on charges of ruining a local beekeeper's apiary. The court has ruled that the bear owes around $3,000 in damages.
Since bears do not deal in cash, the government will have to cover the damages on her behalf. [...]" *Giggle*

The Cut (Planet Ash)
A young multinational band based in Helsinki, Finland. There are 4 songs at the site as of the time of this review. Yes I know the people, but I seriously think the songs are above average, plus the singer has a fantastic voice. If they keep going (which I think they will), I can see that they have a bright future. Check it out.
They don't have their CD out yet, but if you contacted them, I am sure they would tell you how and where and when you can get some more of their music.

My friends and some kind strangers
ask protest ..
where the h#@&% are you, you didn't post since August!
Well I recently moved from Helsinki to Zurich. I do not have proper Internet connection from home, so my personal time at the Inet is a little limited. Now (tomorrow) I am off to Bamberg for two weeks and then to Istanbul for a week, and I suspect will be away from "home" (whatever that is!) yet another week in January. I have many pictures and SUblah's (my blah blah around my pics on SU here) waiting - I do expect another active period as the winter sets in. Well that is unless I pick up the skiing and get really enthusiastic about it ;)

Image from Amsterdam, 2006. It's just got nothing to do with
what I say above. And I probably should've put something from Zurich - oh well, next one, I like this one now :)

From Firenze, with love ♥ ♥
or should we say: 2006, An Italian Oddity
(and a very cute oddity at that .. the expression is merely a free association)
So the Firenze (Florence) people use locks. Not like you and I do, though (see picture).
In this time and age, it's quite a statement. But it is no surprise, of course, as it comes from a people of Romance after all :)
An Italian fellow was saying that the local city authorities were not all that happy about it. I can't remember the reasoning. It was a charming sight for me, however, as I had no previous notion of it. Now I am here to spoil your surprise. If you ever go to Firenze, look around and you will see something like that. And if you have a love to declare to the world, perhaps you want to take a lock with you, and permanent(*) marker pens. Just in case.

Locks of love.
Who thought of this for the first time, I wonder. Surely they never imagined it catching up like this :)
Florence, Italy, 2006 August.
(*) Though do keep the word permanent in mind, because I may be around to make a picture of it and then even if you remove the lock, the world gets to learn who you are in love with :-)
Also check this locks of love.

Yağmurun Elleri | Somewhere I have never travelled
E.E. Cummins original, Barış Pirhasan translation.. well actually more like .. adaptation.
Lyrics to a beautiful song in Turkish.
[ ... ] your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose [ ... ]
Küçücük bir bakışın | Çözer beni kolayca
Kenetlenmiş parmaklar gibi | Sımsıkı kapanmış olsam
Yaprak yaprak açtırırsın | İlk yaz nasıl açtırırsa
İlk gülünü gizem dolu | Hünerli bir dokunuşla...
(good great translation, kudos to Barış Pirhasan!)

Hiç kimsenin, yağmurun bile
Böyle küçük elleri yoktur(*)
(*)(nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands)
I know these words from the song, I always wondered how anyone comes up with hands for rain. Rain would have hands, and they would be so small, and the hands of the loved-one would be even smaller. I love the image, and the song really makes you like it too, it's suitably soft (here I would have loved to provide a link to the song, damn those copyrights) but this sort of imagination comes to me only when I have fever.. or something :)
Thank you, Dewrak, for the wonderful image (linked from the words "small hands" above the last paragraph)
